Charls and i watched two of our favourite shows tonight: New Girl and Modern Family. Both had us laughing ALL night. My favourite quote was from Modern Family, when Jay and Gloria were at their parenting class. Another couple leaned over and said "We had tried for so long! It's great!"
and Jay just looked at them and laughed and said "She's Latin...you just have to look at her funny" I laughed so hard i was crying. Modern Family's Phil-osophy was pretty hilarious too, and Nicks pranking in New Girl had us laughing. Charls and I love Wednesday Nights.
Oh how i've missed this kid. JUST as an update: One of my best friends from good ol' highschool days just got back from his mission. It's been a couple of sleepless nights of laughing our heads off, catching up AND tonight we finally skyped for the first time. He got back from Italy on Friday, and he's pretty fresh. Charls and i have been teaching him our ways. He watched Guy on A Buffalo, experienced my weird music taste, and is starting to understand memes. Not to mention YOLO.
So here was our wonderful Skype experience. Love ya David!
Emily and I were left flowers today. We were super stoked. The note was signed by "?" Our roommate knows who did it because she walked in...out?.. on them at our doorstep. She won't give us any information on it at all. I love getting flowers. I love daisies. One of my top flowers, for sure. Peonies are my favorite, in case you were wondering :) But, I love a lot of flowers.
This:
The song, not the video. If you see me walking to campus, this is probably what I'm listening to.
Also, strawberries and cream oatmeal, boots, and David.
So i have this addiction. And it's called.....MEN'S V-NECK T-SHIRTS.
They are seriously the comfiest most amazing things on the face of the earth.
So i tried to take a picture of all the ones i have...well...part of them. I might or might not have a large collection of them and/or wear them every day.
It didn't work.
At all.
Too many to get in the picture.
So if you see me wearing the "same" shirt two days in a row...it's not the same.
I'm always looking for new music. Music has constantly been part of my life and i love hearing new stuff. My friend discovered them the other day and am i glad he did.
So my friend David just got back from his mission, and today was the first day i've talked to him. It was fantastic and we basically talked all day! I missed that kid like no other....he just always knows what to say :D
It was so weird to be able to talk to him for as long as i wanted....or how ever i wanted. I just hung up with him, using his dads phone because he doesn't have his own yet. I feel like i'm not going to get any sleep the next couple of nights. He's still struggling with the whole English thing instead of Italian and it's highly entertaining. I have to speak a little slow...
A fantastic day of classes and nap after. I love my chair. It's my happy. Then a GREAT FHE, i don't remember their names but they all made it fantastic. We went to the Bishops and had a bonfire and talked about our favourite talks from Conference. Then roasted smores! When i came home Charls, Katy, and I had a random dance party.
Things like this happen on a regular basis. It's really nothing new.
Then Josh came over so i could practice more age makeup, Spenc is later this week! Charls dubbed him the silver fox after we colored his hair as well.
Before
After
He was such a punk while i was putting it on but it was super fun
Daniel came over later and Charls did his makeup, but i didn't catch it. We talked, Josh and Daniel randomly played the guitar at points and then after
the boys left Charls and i went back to our random weirdness.
I don't really know what to tell you all today. As some of you majestic muffins may have noticed, I have been kind of missing from the blog. But I was here in spirit. I have officially entered the testing season of the semester. I had four exams last week.
If I had to choose one thing that college has managed to consistently accomplish with complete efficacy, it would undoubtedly be the ability college has to completely ruin any confidence and security I place in my intelligence and ability to learn and retain knowledge. Here's the thing, I have no life. I spend the majority of my life in class or studying. Even when I am doing neither of those things, I'm still thinking about it and there is still all sorts of science running through my mind.
I have learned all sorts of wonderful things because of my education, and, in my opinion, that is what is most important. Quite honestly, I dedicate a lot of time to my school endeavors, but when it comes down to it I don't feel that my grades are the most important thing in my life. I have this predicament, though. It's this little thing known as pre-med. It's an unfortunate period in a person's life at which an individual knows exactly what they want to do do in life, but the end-goal is super far away in a land that lies beyond grades and exams and hours of committing your life to various, though worthwhile, causes. To even be considered at a given medical school a certain GPA is required. So, basically, I will be in school for the rest of my life trying to get grades and test scores to just get through the first round of applications. There is no plan b. Which I know sounds ridiculous. But, dream big, right? And, let's be honest, there are a lot of things I can do with my major if it comes down to it. I just don't want to. Molecular biology isn't what I'm the most passionate about. I want to help people, and, as naive as it may sound, I want to help change the world. I hear one person makes a difference.
This weekend was good, though. Shoutout to an awesome general conference; I watched most of it..
I was able to spend time with some of my dear friends this weekend. We became friends when I first moved to Utah for school. Laura and Adam were my first college friends, and Laura's husband and Adam's fiance are really great. I'm happy that my friends found them, and I'm glad that they are all so happy in their gross, mushy love :) We had a good time.
This is super long. I feel that y'all know enough about my life for now. But that's what the internet is for, right? So, we can have way to much of our lives exposed to the world and do things we would never do in real life.
Also, enjoy my song of the day.
"You have something in your eye"
Also, if you have not yet had the opportunity to appreciate the Spring 2013 line from Carolina Herrera. Appreciate it. http://www.carolinaherrera.com/content.php?l=en I know we are still thinking about the awesome Chanel line, but this is pure happiness.
So this last week stressed me out a lot and i was beginning to feel it in my neck. Hurt like no one's business, knots everywhere. Honestly, sometimes trying to massage it just doesn't do it for me. That's where todays appreciation post comes in...
Tiger Balm
It's a pain relieving ointment that comes in this small jar. It's been used for over 100 years. You can get it at Winco, i saw it when i was with Charls and i started geeking out because my friend let me use his once and i was in love with it but couldn't find it anywhere.
You just rub it on the area that hurts and then massage and it does it's magic. It slowly heats up and feels super comforting. After a little while the pain fades by a LOT.
I needed to practice old age makeup because i'm helping out with the Opera the next couple of weeks so i shamelessly used 3 of my guy friends. Chris, Mike, and Jas are seriously the best! Here is how that turned out....
Old Man Miguel
I made Charls take off his makeup :D
Grumpy
The best part of doing age makeup is that EVERY single one of them acted like a grumpy old Grandpa right after i did their makeup. It was seriously the funniest thing.
Friday was Mike Appretiation Day. Why? Because we appretiate Mike. He puts up with a lot! He's one of the greatest people i know. We went to the Library to watch one of his favourite movies,
A Man Without A Past.
It's Finnish. I fell asleep during part of it because i was sooo tired from the night before. Here is a taste of it's awesomeness
Beautifully awkward.
We then traveled to Sonic and feasted upon it's awesomeness.
THEN it was GENERAL CONFERENCE TIME!!!! I love General Conference so much, and it's even more amazing watching it with friends :) Mike came over for the first half and stole my snuggie. We like to call him Dumbledore now.
After the second session we had a couple of guys over for dinner. They serenaded us. Josh was on the uke, and Miguel was on the guitar. Mike tried to play the uke, but was struggling. I busted up when Josh silently just grabbed the Uke and handed Mike the guitar, then all was well in the world once again.
While they were all at Priesthood Session i studied a little for P.D. Bio. I found out that if i'm ansy and can't concentrate then rolling a longboard wheel with my hand calms me down instantly. So i just sat there with my longboard on my lap rolling the wheel while i read about Amino Acids.
After Priesthood Session Mike and Kris came back.
Then it was Jam Session time once again.
It won't let me attach the video that i want and it's making me very frustrated. Because it was fantastic. Kris started up with percussion on the huge toilet roll thingy you can see to the right of the picture.
